Interesting link about Vision

B.C.C. takes seriously the commandment of Jesus to “make disciples and teach all people.”

Matthew 28:19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."

We are a teaching ministry whose focus is on making disciples. We want to be a “center” for educating the Body of Christ and the unreached for Christ. Our focus is on the Truth revealed through the scriptures.

Who is our Ministry Focus?

We can only be what God has called us to be as believers if we continually have as our focus the “unreached for Christ.” Everything we do should have an aspect of outreach to it. Our ministry focus is on the whole family unit and all age groups. Our goal is to “fully equip the body of Christ for the work of the ministry” (Eph. 4:11-13). We are NOT called to make members, only disciples.

What do we believe?

We are not defined according to what we are “against,” but rather what we are “for.” We are “for” all people of all races and religions knowing the “Truth” about who God through Christ is and their relationship to them. This means teaching what the entire inspired scriptures say concerning what it means to be in a proper relationship with God and others through Christ.

We are a non-denominational Evangelical congregation. Our allegiance is not to any one Christian organization whether Catholic or Protestant. We do not need to reinvent the wheel doctrinally. We teach what can be considered to be the foundational doctrines of the historic Christian faith taught and preserved throughout every century. Therefore, we must know what core and irrevocable doctrines have been maintained throughout the church’s history among all Christian denominations.

We also acknowledge the irrevocable relationship that God has with His Covenant people of the House of Israel and Judah and how as believers we are a part (grafted in) of a New Covenant through Jesus (Jer.31:31, Rom.1:16, 11:17-24, 29, Heb.8:8). The Gospel is to and from the Jew first. We can learn from and appreciate our Hebraic heritage.

What is our identity?

We must maintain our Christian identity and still remain culturally relevant. We don’t need to compromise one for the other. Our motivation is to “bear witness of the Truth” everywhere we are. Our citizenship is not of this world and we are called to be in the world, but not of the world. We are to be engaged in being a witness of the Truth and have as our priority the concerns of God and how that relates to humanity in every aspect of society and culture.

What is our calling?

Each believer has a ministry that they are called to fulfill in their lifetime. Each person must learn what gifts God has given them in order to carry out that ministry. No program can replace the responsibility of doing personal ministry. You will never be asked to be a part of any group, or any decision making body of believers, that you are not gifted and called to be a part of. We are structured in such a way so that the pastoral ministry is surrounded by those whose only motivation is doing what God wants us to do as a congregation in order to grow as believers.

What is worship?

Jesus states that “those who worship God must worship in Spirit and in Truth” (John 4:24). How that worship is expressed is quite diverse. There is no one proper form of worship. The focus of Worship is God and the truth that is expressed in song, liturgy, sacrament, intercession and scripture. Worship is also expressed through sacrificial giving in all areas and aspects of life (Romans 12:1).

A worship service is considered to be the "classroom of the Holy Spirit," not a performance, or a concert. We are the congregation not the audience. We are not coming to a family reunion. We have an altar and it is a sanctuary not a stage with performers. All persons who are a part of the Body of Christ are to be interactive with the moving of the Holy Spirit during the service. He is the "teacher" and leads us all into Truth. He is also the "intercessor" and intercedes through us.

John 16:13 "But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come."

We are open to the move and work of the Holy Spirit, but we are not defined by terms like "Pentecostal, or Charismatic." All things are to be done in proper order and without confusion.

Who is our community?

We will only reach spiritual maturity as the Body of Christ while in communion with others in the Body of Christ, the Church universal both locally and globally. We are not defined by or confined to a building. We are a part of a body not a building. We are the Temple of the Holy Spirit and a dwelling place (Bethel) for God (I Cor.6:19).

We are committed to individual and corporate Bible study discipleship groups in order to deepen our knowledge of the scripture and maintain accountability.
